Forest School
“The best classroom and the richest classroom is roofed only by the sky.”
Run by Clarey and Steph, both qualified primary school teachers and Level 3 Forest School Leaders, our Forest School aims to get children outside and back out to nature. Clarey and Steph got chatting in the staff room of a primary school and realised that they had a shared love of nature and the great outdoors. Forest school has proven time and time again to help improve confidence, self-esteem and mental well being in children through problem solving, child led play, practical learning and supported risk taking.
We feel passionately about putting the creativity and independence back into learning and giving children time off screens and tech and giving them the freedom to use their imaginations to reconnect with nature and each other. Think of our woods as a giant outdoor classroom, where learning happens almost without them realising it and play evolves naturally through exploration and adventure. There is no such thing as a typical day at a We Are Wild Forest School session but we might build dens in the woods, learn how to identify the trees and flora around us, play giant hide and seek, cook something on the campfire, learn how to use tools, whittle a butter knife or use a flint and steel to light our own fires. The possibilities are endless.
